A Team Supporting Each Student

At Martin Luther School – Plymouth, each student’s specific needs guide the individualized services they receive. We integrate support into classroom routines and learning experiences, so students can build and practice skills throughout the school day.   

Each student is supported by an educational team that collaborates to share observations, coordinate strategies, and help children succeed.  This team includes a special education teacher, teacher associates, speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, counselors, school psychologists, and other professionals as needed. 

Speech-Language Therapy 

Speech-language therapists help students strengthen functional and expressive communication skills. 

Tailored to each student’s needs and goals, therapy may be incorporated into classroom activities, small-group learning, and other parts of the school day. Integrating communication development into everyday experiences gives students meaningful opportunities to practice and apply their skills. 

Occupational Therapy  

Occupational therapy helps students participate more fully in classroom routines, learning activities, movement, and daily school experiences. Our occupational therapists collaborate with the educational team to reinforce support across the settings where students learn and engage. 

Social Emotional Learning Support 

A culture of connection, safety, and belonging creates the foundation for social-emotional growth. 

Our educators accompany students as they build relationships, strengthen their ability to recognize and communicate emotions, participate in groups, and navigate challenges with support. We reinforce these skills through classroom experiences, the Social Emotional Learning Lab, and collaboration among team members. 

Sensory Regulation and Movement 

Sensory regulation and movement are woven throughout the school day. These experiences help students regulate, prepare for learning, participate more fully in activities, and connect with their school community.
